Project Profile:

At the James River Church Youth Center Addition in Ozark, Missouri, innovation meets industrial sophistication in a vibrant space tailored specifically for kids. OWN played a crucial role in bringing this challenging and rewarding project to fruition, ensuring that every detail supported the client’s vision while meeting practical needs. This project was further recognized for its excellence, winning the Springfield Contractor’s Association Design Team of the Year Award for 2024.

The project, led by Buxton Kubik Dodd Design Collective, created a transformative industrial-styled youth ministry and worship space, perfect for connection and creativity. From exposed ductwork to open building systems, the design embraces an aesthetic that is both bold and functional, creating a unique environment for younger members of the James River Church community.

OWN contributed a comprehensive suite of services to support this vision, including:

  • Topographic Surveying: Mapping the site and utility locations to inform precise planning.
  • Geotechnical Engineering: Providing critical foundation analysis to ensure stability and durability.
  • Civil Engineering Site Development: Designing site layouts with ADA-compliant accessibility, utilities, parking lots, sidewalks, and striping, along with site demolition planning.
  • Permitting Services: Navigating requirements with Ozark Special Road District for smooth approval processes.
  • Utility Planning: Crafting a site utility plan for water, gas, and sanitary sewer service connections.
  • Stormwater and Erosion Control: Developing a site erosion control plan and stormwater detention and water quality systems to ensure environmental compliance.

Maintaining a safe and functional church environment during construction required careful planning and creative solutions. OWN and the team tackled challenges like traffic flow and bottlenecks, ensuring smooth navigation for churchgoers and minimizing disruption. The work contributed to the successful integration of the center’s impressive amenities, including youth offices, a café, gaming areas, and a repurposed 800-seat auditorium, all while preserving the energy of the space.

This project is a testament to what’s possible when cutting-edge design and expert engineering come together. OWN is proud to have been an integral part of creating a space that elevates the experience for the next generation while standing as a model of industrial-inspired innovation.
